Rachel Brown

BA; PGDIP.TEACH; MASTER OF COUNSELLING STUDIES; NZAC PROVISIONAL MEMBER

Rachel’s focus in counselling is to help people find meaning, strength and wellbeing within themselves and their relationships. She is passionate about working with both individuals and couples on their parenthood journey.

Rachel has worked in antenatal education for fifteen years. This work has given her insight and perspective into the huge range of feelings and experiences that pregnancy and welcoming a new baby can bring. She considers it a privilege to expand upon this work with parents at Little Shadow.

Her practice is seated in a pluralistic counselling framework. Within individual counselling she includes elements of Person-Centred therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy), Solutions Focused, and Narrative therapy. She works with her clients to find the way forward that best suits them. With couples she uses Gottman Relationship Therapy having completed level 1 and 2 training in this. Couples therapy is available in-person only.

Rachel has three children of her own and is a Wellington local.
